ITERATION ONE

Applying a client's design system while ensuring compliance with web accessibility

Dream Finders Homes, Inc. is a large homebuilding company with operations across the country and covers everything from designing, building, and selling homes. However, the sales of new construction homes were falling during this time, and they wanted to expand a new investor sales channel with a white-labelled marketplace custom-tailored for investor clients.

The visual style of dream finders homes is meant to exude tradition and prestige, with gold wax seal details and grandiose cursive and serif fonts. However, when applying these components in a consumer-facing marketplace, it created competing visual elements and failed WCAG 2.2 AA standards, raising concerns with their legal team and potential user experience difficulties.

As the sole designer for this project, I developed a new workflow to not only develop the visual design that would pass standards, but also work in the codebase itself to implement keyboard accessibility features. I did this with Figma, accessibility audits in figma, claude code, audits in code, and finally a published live site.
